How to perform sit-ups? It's quite easy.
You have to be lying with the back on the floor, typically
with the knees bent in an attempt to reduce stress on the back muscles and spine, and then elevating both the upper
and lower spine from the floor until everything superior to the buttocks is not touching the ground.
You have to sit up without moving your legs at all.
Do not use your leg muscles to balance your body, compensate or supplement the effort made by the
abdominal muscles. Otherwise you will not get the full benefit from this exercise!
To ease on your back you can of course perform the sit-ups exercise on a workout mat or pad.
Many people find it uncomfortable when the lower backbones press into
hardwood floor. For this reason we recommend using of different mats and pads.
Do it with cardio exercises
The sit ups exercise can be more effective, when you do it combined with generic cardio exercises,
like running, when your body fat if burned leaving your abs exposed.
Some people experience lower back pain during sit-ups. In that case, immediately stop performing sit-ups
and instead settle for crunches or other exercises that do not involve lower back movement.
