The Vegan Diet Tips To Save Money On Groceries

Saving Money On Groceries and The vegan Diet

I’m going to show you how you can save some money on groceries by following 3 useful tips you can put into action next time you go grocery shopping.

You see, when people tell me they cannot become a vegan because it’s just too expensive, I think they don’t do proper planning when buying groceries.

It is true that your vegan diet could be expensive if you just buy the frozen vegan foods, junk food or the vegan substitutes for meat, sausage or chicken, which to be honest I still buy, but there are way down my list of priorities when it comes down to buying groceries.

That is because I have realize that I could get more vegetables or fruits instead of buying the frozen foods or meat substitutes.

So here are my 3 tips for saving money at the supermarket.

#1. Always write a list of the things you need.

This needs to become a habit before you go grocery shopping. How many times have you found yourself buying things you don’t really need or things you already have on your fridge but are not sure, and end up buying the same thing again? To me, It has happened many times. But when I start writing everything I need for the week, I notice that the amount of money I spend on groceries went down.

So just plan ahead everything you might need for the week. If you have trouble doing this, grab a piece of paper and start planning what do you want to eat for the whole week. Start planning what you are getting for breakfast, lunch, dinner and what snacks do you want. This way when you go to the supermarket you will only get what you need and avoid any distractions.

#2. Try to find the marked down fruits and veggies.

This doesn’t mean you are buying the food that is going bad. What supermarkets do, is that they cannot hold on the fruits or veggies for a certain amount of time, so to get rid of them they just lower their price hoping people will buy them and put the next set of veggies and fruits for sale.

Another advantage of this is that you are getting the fruits and veggies that are ripe, so no more waiting for you.

#3 Try to focus more on buying fresh fruits and vegetables instead of frozen foods, and meat substitutes.

This I have covered at the beginning of the article, but I believe it is an important point worth repeating. You will notice that a few extra dollars in your pocket next time you go to the market. Also when people tell me they cannot afford to be vegan, 8 out of 10 will tell me also that the vegan meats eat their budget.
