Food Has To Satisfy To Be Worth Eating

Depression is a growing issue in today’s culture and while weight alone is far from an accurate indicator of a person’s mental state, many of the factors that contribute to depression are also present in causing obesity.

One of the symptoms of depression is a feeling by the sufferer that she can’t do anything right and no matter what she tries is bound to fail. Unfortunately, in the current world of weight loss plans, that’s probably true–but it’s not your fault.

Most “diet” foods today are some of the worst things a person trying get healthier can eat. This is even more true for a person suffering from depression.

Unfortunately, the only thing more likely to further drag down an overweight person who is depressed than someone telling her to “cheer up!” is the mention of weight loss plans.

Making something that a person who is doing her best to diet will eat is a relatively simple process. You take a nice, natural food item, take out all the fat – removing the ones that keep you satiated and your cholesterol down right along with the bad ones – replace it with sugar, salt and chemicals, slap the word “lite” on the label and put it back on the shelf.

This provides an overweight, depressed person with a food-like item that lacks most of its nutrients, a lot of its taste and almost all of its ability to satisfy hunger or provide energy.

It leaves the eater hungry, tired and far more likely to eat too much in an effort to provide her body with what it needs.

How Weight Loss Plans Possible With The Right Foods

There is absolutely no point – except from a marketing perspective – in diet food that causes a person to eat far too much of it in a vain attempt to get nutrition. Even worse, those added sugars get stored as even more fat and only serve to exacerbate the problem.

The process of eating is even simpler than that of making food unreal. We take in food to provide energy – in the form of protein, vitamins, minerals and yes fats and natural sugars – in order to lead to optimum functioning. The less processing the food has gone through, the more efficiently the body uses it.

True, highly processed food made mostly of sugar will offer a rapid kick of energy, but that’s because sugar requires the least conversion – which is why sugar calories are far harder to burn than anything else – but it will be followed by a crash.

By the same token, a single-ingredient, organic food like an avocado, sweet potato, nuts or strawberries takes longer to break down. This means that more calories are burned working the food through our system, while at the same time vital nutrients go where they need to, offering up energy that lasts over the long term.

An added bonus of starting a weight loss plan that involves real, nutritious food is that, not only does it taste good, but you actually wind up full at the end of a meal.

Unhealthy Food Will Lead To An Unhealthy Mood

No one knows for sure what causes depression, but activity and good nutrition have both been shown to have ameliorative effects. That is, if you are suffering from depression, getting the right mix of nutrients in your body, you will feel better.

By getting the right mix of nutrients in your body, you will also have more energy, which will help you move more, which will help you feel better and burn even more fat than a healthy diet alone.

Imagine, a weight loss plan that actually works and helps you feel good at the same time!
