The Japanese Banana Diet is not really your typical diet and is aimed at people who have tried a few diets before and the basic diet rules just don’t work for them. It is less of a diet and more of a slight change or addition to your diet.

The rules for the morning banana diet are very simple. The banana is a great fruit for breaking the fast after a long nights sleep as it has quite a high to moderate glycemic index which means that it will help break the fast much quicker than other foods as well as delivering a healthy dose of protein with very little carbohydrates.

Banana Diet Rules

– Upon waking eat one or more bananas. (up to 5-6) – Take the banana with a glass of room temperature water. (only drink water with the banana diet) – If you are hungry after 15 – 30 minutes you can eat a small meal consisting of a slow digesting carbohydrate (rice is most popular for the Japanese) – Like all Japanese, eat until you are around 75% full, happy satisfied but not totally full. – Eat normally for Lunch and Dinner (dinner no later than 8pm) – If you need a snack go for fresh fruit or try a savory snack ( try to avoid sugary snacks) – Get plenty of sleep and exercise if you have the time.

As you can see the morning banana diet is amazingly simple to follow and these simple changes of eating more banana’s and drinking water can have a dramatic effect on your weight loss without complex calorie counting and constant food management.

Banana diet does it work?

I have been on the Japanese banana diet for around 2 months now and have always eaten bananas upon waking anyway so it wasn’t too much of a change. I find it’s a great way to break the fast and stop my stomach grumbling in the morning which helps to maintain and feed my muscles early in the morning while letting my body use my fat for fuel.
