The Paleo diet is a diet where you consume whole foods high in fiber. This diet has been shown to help many people lose weight, reduce the risk of diabetes, and help build muscle. The diet focuses on a low carb and high protein diet. For many, the incentive is that you don’t have to cut down on the amount of food you eat but rather eat the right type of foods.

Paleo foods are different from today’s modern diet in that it is based on foods that are organic, natural, and whole. Foods that are cut out from this diet are foods high in fat, foods that are manufactured, and foods that contain a lot of sugar. As you may be aware, these foods are responsible for draining your energy and hindering you from losing weight.

You can still eat your favorite meats on this diet. You can eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, and eggs. The only thing that you have to remember is that the meat must be trim. That means that there is no visible fat on these meats as they have been cut off. You can purchase lean meat from your local grocery and even go as far as cutting off the fat yourself.

When it comes to meat, you want to avoid frying or deep frying it. The better option would be to broil it, roast it, or sauté it with light oil. A great dish can be a lean cut of pork and vegetables that you stir fry with a little bit of oil. Simple meals like this can be a delicious way to stay on this diet.

Fruits and nuts are also part of the diet. For the most part, you can eat most fruits. However, you want to avoid eating too many fatty nuts and avocados. The great thing about fruits is that there are a low number of calories yet it still fills you up. Just be aware that if you are diabetic, fruits can spike up your blood sugar levels. Talk to your doctor and see what kind of portions are okay.

Then there are your vegetables. You have a wide variety of choices from collards, kale, lettuce, bell peppers, carrots, celery, eggplant, artichokes, and more. However, you must avoid ones that are high in carbs such as potatoes and yams. Just because it is a vegetable doesn’t mean that it will help you in this diet.

Foods that you should avoid include dairy products and processed foods. This means that you can’t have milk, yogurt, cheese, butter, or even ice cream. These foods are high in carbs and sugar. You should also avoid grains such as rice, oats, wheat, and rye. While legumes are healthy, it should be avoided because they are high in carbs.

So that’s an overview the Paleo foods you can choose from and which to avoid. There are not many limitations when it comes to picking what foods to eat. You can find many delicious recipes online that you can make without much difficulty. This is a great diet because it doesn’t focus on starvation and is not a fad diet that delivers temporary results.
